The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

When I originally heard about the first Zelda game for the Gamecube, I was very annoyed at Nintendo. Instead of utilizing the increased graphics capability of the Gamecube to make Link and Hyrule more realistic, Nintendo announced they were making the Wind Waker have a cartoon look. Because of this, I considered not buying it - for maybe a minute or so. The look of the past Zelda games was not what hooked me on the series. What hooked me was the game play. The Wind Waker definitely delivered on the game play. In this version, the Link incarnation lives in a world where water has flooded everything. Link travels by boat from island to island, exploring, solving puzzles and fighting monsters and villains. Along the way, he discovers how his world wasn't always islands in a vast sea. Although the game seemed a tad shorter than earlier Zelda games, it still offered hours and hours of fun and excitement. Oh, and you quickly forget that you are playing a cartoon character.
